WHEN FATE TAKES A TURN AT THE WHEEL

David Sanders has been hosed over by women, taken advantage of, practically destroyed. After three divorces, his self-esteem lies in tatters, his finances in ruins. He lives in a garage behind his parents' house - which is now owned by one of his ex-wives.

Amy Sainte, a foreign-exchange student from Paris, comes to Southern California with low self-esteem, a poor self-image, and yet the ambition to become a Hollywood Starlet.

Falling Up is the story of what happens when the destinies of this unlikely duo become intertwined. The friction of their topsy-turvy relationship leads to a whole series of humorous episodes and - unexpectedly - to real inner growth. While Amy needs to learn it's the beauty inside her that counts, David needs simply to re-engage with life.

An entertaining drama about people who stumble upon their own better selves, Falling Up, offers a unique perspective on gender roles, the battle of the sexes, and the quirks of fate that shape our lives.

Toby conquers NOLA...or did it conquer him?

Paws up my good fur and no fur friends – Dad’s taking a nap and Mom’s reading so it’s a good time for another entry in my blog – I know you’ve been checking every day – waiting at the edge of your seat to find out what I’ve been up to!

Here it goes – since I last talked to y’all (I’m becoming a southern dog!) we went to New Orleans or as I like to call it NOLA – we were there for 3 days and it was definitely the neatest place I’ve ever been – first thing Mom and Dad got their walking shoes on and took me into this great big city! So many humans and smells and we went all the way down to another river walk – this one was so busy! It had great big fountains and humans singing and everyone noticed me – they said I was doing a good job walking my humans (I do have them trained pretty well-not perfect but I’m working with them) and we just kept walking up and down all these streets – stores even let me come in and everyone thought I was so cute (can’t touch this!).

We went down this one street and everyone was acting really funny, stumbling around like they chased their tails one too many times (you know what I mean?). A couple of them almost stepped on my paws (that would be paws down!). The music was really loud too – I heard Mom tell Dad they were coming back to that street – I sure don’t know why.

They did go out that night and leave me alone with my video – and you know what? They came back walking funny too – it must be the kibble they are giving them on that street or maybe it’s that city water – whatever it is – I strongly recommend all humans stay away!

Day 13 – The next day they took me walking again – up and down even more streets! Home doesn’t have nearly this many streets and humans to smell! Dad put these beads around my neck and said I would like them – at first I didn’t but as we walked everyone noticed me! Even the cute dogs that passed us on the other side of the street whistled at me! I strutted my stuff past these really large dogs (or at least I think they were dogs – not quite sure – they didn’t bark and they were hooked up to some large contraption with wheels) – I didn’t want to look them in the eye – they made me kinda nervous – but I did hear one of them talk about me as I went by and they said I was hot stuff! Just as I was getting my groove on – ready to find some fine ladies in this city - they stopped! And I had to sit there for what seemed like forever – until I heard them talking about taking me on a tour! My ears sure perked up at that – I had never been on a tour before and it sounded exciting and adventurous – that’s me Toby the Tourer – conquering foreign lands and humans! I couldn’t wait!

Turns out – I could’ve waited – a tour consists of a bunch of humans standing around yapping about stuff and staring at houses – what kind of fun is that? And Mom was all paranoid when they took me into something called a cemetery that I was going to pee on something – well, YEAH – that’s what I do! But Dad kept me away from anything I could pee on – I don’t know why he listens to Mom – she’s such a tour-pooper!

The humans would walk a few steps then stop, walk a few steps then stop – walk/stop, walk/stop – don’t they know you get to places a lot quicker if you keep walking! I can get the whole story of a place with one sniff and I’m back moving – what takes them so long? Well, we did this for what seemed like forever and Judy, the human that yapped the most, kept petting me and scratching my ears (okay, that was kind of nice) but she kept talking to me like I was a baby – I’m not stupid! I did have my fun though – the other humans there had on black pants – HA – I know what happens to black pants when I rub up against them (Mom yells about it all the time!) and so I did! Hehe – Mom was mortified but I thought it was pretty funny. The last part of the tour was fun too when it started raining – I sure did get wet! And I waited until everyone was around me so I could shake and shake. Never say we dogs don’t have a sense of humor – humans just don’t get it!

Mom and Dad went out again that night and came back all silly – it must be that kibble again (I may have to cut them back) – but they cuddled with me all night so it turned out to be another good day.

However, I heard a rumor from the dog next door that humans have some really tasty water called a Hurricane down on a street called Bourbon – I may have to try to get me some of that!

Day 14 – Mom put my beads on and off we headed on another NOLA adventure – no tours today so I figured I was safe – yeah – like they could’ve warned me that there are things around cemeteries that they can’t see but I can – talk about a wigged out moment! I lost my insides and I don’t have a problem admitting it – it was freaky! Sure I noticed all these humans and things before but Mom and Dad never walked right through them before! And there was never so many of them before! I sure didn’t like that at all so I told Mom and Dad to get me out of there pronto and take me down to that Bourbon Street place for that funny Hurricane water!

Weird thing was, now that I knew there were humans and things they couldn’t see, I could see them everywhere! Some were nice and made my tail wag – others scared me…A LOT! To say I was a bit edgy is an understatement – I think we need a break from good ol’ NOLA and move on down the road – but first, a nice lunch at a human feed house was in order – I sure do like to human watch – they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and they’re all so nice to me (but I do like the ones everyone can see over the ones everyone can’t) – you humans are not such a bad lot – even if you don’t have fur.

I thought they were going to forget to take me to Bourbon Street for the funny water until – shabam! There we were right back at that street from the first day with the funny walkin’, tail chasin’ humans! I knew it had to be Bourbon Street. I searched and searched, while Mom and Dad weren’t looking I got me one of those Hurricane’s in the big tall water bowl and slurped it all up and then I got another one and I think I had another one – hmmmm, seems I can’t remember the rest of the day…I sure hope I didn’t embarrass myself.

Day 15 – My head hurt. Make a comment and I’ll find ya and bite ya. Didn’t know where we were and didn’t much care. Mom said she took a picture of me and she hoped I learned my lesson. I did.

Day 16 – Well, this day was pretty boring. Another long driving day – the rest areas are pretty neat – every dog in the world must’ve marked their spots at those places – talk about getting the news in one swell sniff! Ended up in a place called Tallahassee, FL – not very interesting if you ask me but who can figure out those humans sometimes.

Day 17 – still here – Mom doesn’t drive in the rain – but I did get out some to run around on my long leash – lots of these small furry things with bushy tails around here – I’m not allowed to chase them but it would be a lot of fun!

Well, Mom wants the computer so I better sign off!

Paws up!

Toby
